It was the third of November, and Poppy was losing her mind. Her doctors had requested that she stay confined to her bed (despite her LACK OF PHYSICAL WOUNDS). Senna had told her it was probably because of her being the Overloridian's daughter. And then had promptly helped her sneak out, leading their father away to go visit Elias, and giving Poppy the chance to slip out of her room and down the hall.
Poppy didn't knock when she found the door she was looking for, but opened it quickly and slid in, closing it softly behind her. She grinned. She'd gotten in before any nurses (or parents) caught her. She turned around and looked to the bed where Axel was. Seeing him made her chest feel all weird. She had been so relieved when her mom told her she'd spoken with him; looking at him now, in the hospital bed, sitting up and alive gave her a rush of emotions.
She sighed and offered him a small smile. A smile that said "holy hell I can't believe we are here and okay and here and okay and not there" and also "hi".
"Mom told me you were awake."
